The Damascus Road

Saul’s damascus road

Saul completely committed his life to the God of Israel. He eradicated those who he believed threatened his God and completely kept the Levitical Law. There’s no doubt of His devotion. He wrote about this devotion in the book of Philippians: “circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless” (Philippians 3:5–6). Saul seriously wasn’t messing around when it came to his devotion to the God of Israel.

Enough

We’ve all probably heard or said the phrase, “That’s enough!” It communicates that someone’s had a sufficient amount of something. Sometimes you say it when you’re at an all you can eat buffet, and you can’t eat anymore. Or maybe if you’ve driven your mom to the brink of insanity with your behavior. The word enough signifies nothing more is required. There is a song that says, “Christ is enough for me.” The first time I sang that song, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming conviction as I thought to myself, “Is Christ enough for me? Is Christ my life?”  I know He’s not always enough for me, and as I look around, I see others are facing the same struggles I am. Why is Christ not enough for us?

Getting a Nation’s Attention

First Samuel 17 reveals the character and boldness of a young teen named David. He caught the eye of a king and an entire nation. He did so living in a day where he couldn’t post a video of himself online to millions of people. We have this ability today, yet we can’t seem to get people’s attention.
